Tips: Field Guides for People Nobody Inspects For

Practical, documentation-first guides: testing a sauna or locker room, testing your rental before you call the landlord, the five-minute hotel-room mold check, and the moisture-first rule that prevents all of it.

These guides exist for one reason: in most of America there is no mandate and no inspector for the places these pages cover, so the person who breathes the air has to do the documenting. Every guide here follows the same discipline as the rest of Mold’s Gym — evidence first, dated, in writing, and nothing overstated. A record that claims exactly what it can prove is the record that cannot be waved off.

Each guide ends with the tools that honestly fit the job, drawn from our Products page, and the standing next step: file a report so what you found is counted.

Education, not medical or legal advice. These guides explain how to inspect and document. They do not diagnose illness and they are not a substitute for a housing attorney or a clinician. If you believe an exposure made you sick, see a medical professional.

Language note: this section is published in English at launch. Translations follow this site’s phased rollout — Spanish and German first.
