Review Watch — the BBB picture

BBB letter grade D- Not a BBB Accredited Business

BBB's stated reason for the grade: failure to respond to 2 complaint(s) filed against the business.

BBB complaints 2 filed in BBB's 3-year window · 1 in the last 12 months

0 of 2 answered — response rate 0%. Complaints are what drive the letter grade.

BBB customer reviews 0 published reviews

0 published reviews and no star average displayed. Star opinions only — they never affect the letter grade.

BBB customer reviews and BBB complaints are separate. Reviews are opinions and don't move the letter grade; unanswered complaints do. That is how a profile can show "0 reviews" and the grade above at the same time.

2026-10-14 — Review Watch snapshot — closure signal

This audit · ReportedBBB grade D-; 2 complaints in the 3-year window, 0 answered; customer-reviews bucket: 0 published. Separately: Yelp-sourced data marks this location permanently closed and Loc8NearMe lists it as closed, while the BBB profile and goldsgym.com still show it with hours. We report the disagreement; we do not call the closure settled.

This is the Review Watch file for the Ormond Beach location — the sister club to Daytona Beach, a connection noted in a member review of this location itself, which says the two share owners. It is tracked the same way: every platform a prospective member would check, one dated snapshot, nothing silently edited.

The BBB picture

BBB grades this location D-, and its stated reason is the same failure as Daytona in miniature: failure to respond to 2 complaints. Both displayed complaints are billing/cancellation grievances — a member whose cancellation attempts since January 2024 met zero contact, and a member charged into 2026 after cancelling — and both are Unanswered (response rate 0%). The customer-reviews bucket, as at Daytona, shows 0 published reviews: an empty silo that says nothing about the complaints beside it.

The mold record here

No mold complaint is displayed on this location’s BBB profile. That absence needs its caveat, because BBB states it plainly: displayed complaint text may not represent all complaints filed — consumers can opt out of publication, and profiles cover a rolling three-year window. What is displayed publicly is on Yelp instead: a review by “Thomas B.” dated 2024-08-09 — the same day as the Daytona BBB mold complaint — stating there is a serious mold issue in this location’s men’s locker-room sauna and noting the shared ownership with Daytona Beach. A later review (May 10, 2025, via the Yelp mirror) flags the facility’s condition in blunter terms.

Reported accounts Reported

The cleaner who got sick. Thomas reports speaking directly with a woman who worked cleaning this Ormond Beach location. Per his account of what she told him: conditions here were just as bad as at Daytona Beach; she got sick while working cleaning the gym; she quit; and it never occurred to her that the gym was the cause of her sickness. This is recorded as what it is — one person’s account, relayed secondhand by Thomas, not a verified finding and not her direct testimony. It is on this page because it fits the pattern the record keeps showing: people getting sick around these rooms, and nobody — including the person sickened — connecting it to the rooms.

Reported closed — official listings haven’t caught up Reported

Multiple sources now indicate this location has closed: Yelp-sourced data marks it permanently closed, Loc8NearMe lists it as closed, and the June 2026 BBB complaint above describes the branch as closed — while charges, per that complaint, continued anyway. Against that, the BBB profile and the goldsgym.com location page still showed the club with operating hours when checked on 2026-10-14.

We report that disagreement as-is: reported closed by multiple sources, not confirmed by the operator’s own listings, and this page will be updated by snapshot, not by stealth edit, as the record resolves.

Method note: Google figures come from a dated mirror snapshot (Google does not expose review data to direct public fetch) and are labeled with that date. This location’s Birdeye aggregate visibly contains reviews belonging to other cities, so its count and rating are treated as soft and labeled accordingly. ConsumerAffairs publishes brand-level data only. Every figure links to its source.
