About Mold's Gym: What This Site Is (and Is Not)

Mold's Gym is an independent mold information and reporting site founded by Thomas Bowman Jr of Daytona Beach. Not a gym, not affiliated with Gold's Gym or RSG Group, educational — not medical advice.

What this is

Mold’s Gym is an independent mold information and consumer-reporting website: the science of mold and saunas, a nationwide evidence base on gym sanitation, a directory of the researchers and authors doing real work in this niche, petitions for a sauna-inspection mandate in all fifty states, and a consumer action center that routes complaints to the officials who are supposed to receive them.

It was founded in 2026 by Thomas Bowman Jr of Daytona Beach, Florida, and it grew out of his own case: the mold he documented and tested in a Gold’s Gym sauna in August 2024, the illness that followed, and the discovery — agency by agency — that almost nobody in America has a mandate to inspect a gym sauna. That case is told in full in The Story.

What this is not

Mold’s Gym is not a gym. It sells no memberships, operates no facilities, and offers no fitness services of any kind.

Mold’s Gym is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Gold’s Gym, RSG Group, or any other gym chain named on this site. Those names appear because they are the subjects of reporting, commentary, and a consumer’s documented case — the way a newspaper names the companies it covers.

Nothing here is medical advice. The Learn section summarizes published health-agency and scientific material for education. It does not diagnose, and it is not a substitute for a medical professional.

Nothing here is a legal verdict. Findings are labeled by evidence level — Documented, Reported, Alleged, Review-level — and attributed to their sources, including lawsuits, whose contents are allegations and are labeled as such.

How we handle other people’s work

This site promotes the people who research and report on mold — see Voices. The rules:

Corrections

We would rather fix a fact than defend one. If something on this site is wrong — a date, a name, a finding, a label — tell us what and where, with a source if you have one, and a verified error gets corrected with a note. The site’s contact route opens with the full launch; until then, the record this site is built on lives in the founder’s own published videos and filings, linked throughout.

The name

Yes, it’s one letter off. It’s a criticism-and-education site wearing its subject on its sleeve: the gym where this started, and what was growing in it. The gold in our logo is one tint off, too — recognizably adjacent, visibly off, and entirely our own.
