Review Watch — the BBB picture
BBB's stated reasons for the grade: failure to respond to 4 complaint(s) filed against the business.
0 of 4 answered — response rate 0%. Complaints are what drive the letter grade.
0 published reviews and no star average displayed. Star opinions only — they never affect the letter grade.
BBB customer reviews and BBB complaints are separate. Reviews are opinions and don't move the letter grade; unanswered complaints do. That is how a profile can show "0 reviews" and the grade above at the same time.

This auditBBB grade F; 4 complaints in the 3-year window, 0 answered (response rate 0%); customer-reviews bucket: 0 published. Full audit on file with this site.
This is the Review Watch file for the gym at the center of this site’s founding case — the full story of the sauna itself, the test results, and the two years of agency dead ends is told in The Gold’s Gym Daytona Sauna Case. This page tracks something different: what the public record about this business looks like across the platforms a prospective member actually checks, captured on a dated snapshot so it can be re-checked and compared over time.
How an F and “0 reviews” are both true
When this site’s founder pulled up this gym’s BBB profile, the customer-reviews page showed zero reviews — hard to square with the complaints he knew he had filed. The audit behind this page found the explanation, and it is now the design rule for every Review Watch page: BBB keeps two separate buckets. Customer reviews are star-rated opinions, and they do not affect the letter grade. Complaints are formal filings, and they do. The reviews bucket here is genuinely empty — 0 published. The complaints bucket holds 4 filings, and all four are Unanswered, which is what BBB’s stated reasons for the F say, in so many words.
The mold complaint
The oldest of the four displayed complaints is dated 2024-08-09 (type: Service or Repair Issues). It reports a serious mold problem in the men’s locker-room sauna, says another member had reported it a month earlier, and says the gym pried a board off the sauna bench face, did nothing to clean, and did not shut the sauna down. It matches the founder’s own filing by date and topic; BBB displays no complainant name, so the page alone does not prove authorship. It has sat there, marked Unanswered, ever since.
The mold record does not live only at BBB. A report on Ripoff Report (#1534126, posted 2024-09-05, still live) alleges hazardous mold in the sauna and other damp areas and names Aspergillus among the molds identified. And among the 39 photos on this location’s Yelp profile, one shows the sauna bench interior, with a caption describing mold and debris across the floor under the bench after a board was removed for inspection and not cleaned up — the same bench, the same failure, photographed by a member.
The pattern
Mold aside, the displayed record is a study in non-response: a pass denied to a visitor, billing that continued after a cancellation and a move out of state, a contract a member says they never agreed to — four formal complaints, a 0% response rate. Meanwhile the Google average reads 4.7 stars. Both numbers are real; they are just never shown on the same page anywhere else. Here, they are.
Method note: Google does not expose its review data to direct public fetch, so Google figures here come from a dated mirror snapshot and are labeled with that date. Birdeye is a multi-source aggregator and is labeled as such. ConsumerAffairs publishes brand-level data only for this chain and cannot be broken out per location. Every figure links to its source so any reader can verify it in one click.
